This Week on Twitter

Wow! The first full week of 2014 and it went by in a whirlwind. Seems like the world was back to work and back to sharing great content on Twitter. Here are some highlights from the week.

There are varying opinions about the value of online influence, how it’s measured and if it even matters. A recent post I wrote on Klout got the expected feedback demonstrating both sides of the debate. Personally, I look at people’s Klout score. Especially if they are positioning themselves in some way as an online or social marketing expert.

Scott Levy’s new book Tweet Naked is getting lots of buzz. I just started reading it and am a huge fan. I’m obviously a believer in the power of Twitter as a branding and communication tool. If you are working on using Twitter more effectively in your branding strategy this book is a must read. Here’s a Tweet about an article Scott wrote that will give you a flavor for the book.

I really enjoy public speaking and am fortunate that I get to do quite a bit of it as part of my job. Someday I might just decide to take the plunge into the speaking business. I thought these tips were great and Evernoted them for future reference! Thanks for sharing Sally. I saw you speak last year at #REX in Texas and was super impressed (I’m The Maestro by the way). I started following Shep thanks to your Tweet and am enjoying his content tremendously.

Dustin and I have been talking a lot about the power of story telling and how the ability to share your message in a good story is becoming more and more a part of today’s business strategies. We’ve been watching this concept closely and are eager to learn from those doing it well. Here are a couple of Tweets that reinforce this direction.

I was super impressed this week by one of our Carrington real estate agents in Modesto, CA. Diane Card is combining all kinds of tools to promote herself very effectively online. She using a screen cast to create a YouTube video and sharing it on social media. Bravo Diane! Real estate agents everywhere can take note that it doesn’t have to be a huge production to use video and that there are simple effective ways to promote yourself online.

About Wendy Forsythe

I've spent my career working with people and organizations to help them build their brands. We live in a connected world where that line between a personal and professional persona has become nonexistent. Your brand is you 24/7. This blog is about me and my life. Some of it will relate to my passion for the real estate industry and some of it will just be about me living life and exploring my interests.

The opinions expressed here are my own personal opinions. They do not reflect the opinions of my company (Carrington Real Estate Services).
